Karen's Biography
I grew up in a big family in Milwaukee and was the youngest of 7, so I never had younger siblings. I started babysitting as a teenager and was thrilled when I had my own children. I was a stay home mom for 10 years, as well as, provided child care for others until my youngest was two and a half. My very first position in a center was in 1998 working part-time with pre-school children at Camp Thoreau in Milwaukee. As time passed my children grew, I took on more and more responsibility at Camp Thoreau. By the year 2000, I was an Assistant Director and in 2002, I became Co-Director. Since then, I have spent time improving my Administrative skills and enjoying my job immensely. The classes that I have just completed have been a great addition to my knowledge base and have helped me see new and improved ways to run our program.
