Karen's Professional Development Plan
I have enjoyed working with children since I was a teenager and I have become an administrator after many years of hard work. At this time my registry level is a two and I am in the process of updating that with The Registry since I have recently completed five classes. The administrators credential for child care classes have been my first college experience. I have learned so much in the last year as I have made my way through the program at Waukesha County Technical College. I started taking the credential courses the summer of 2012 and I am proud of the fact that it has only taken me a year to complete them.
The concepts that I have learned have enlightened me but I feel that I am at a crossroads of my career right now. I am interested in continuing my education towards an associate or bachelor's degree in the area child care. I have also considered pursuing the leadership credential. These classes have opened my mind about many aspects of child care. I have also rekindled my love for photography and have begun to incorporate this into my job at Camp Thoreau.
While I was taking the Financial Management class, I found that I am very good with numbers and budgeting. This was the only class in the credential that I had to take at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. It was a enjoyable class that I did not struggle with at all. These new positive experiences are the push I needed to spark an assessment of where I would like to proceed from here. I will strive to blend the areas I have excelled in to find the career path that is desirable.
